We were invited along to the well renown Australasia restaurant in Manchester city centre this week, thanks to our amazing friend Rebecca Walker who works for Living Ventures. We were very excited to be eating in the restaurant as we had heard so many amazing things about their food and not only it being delicious but also healthy!! We had previously visited their bar for cocktails and knew that this place was up there with the very best.
On arrival to the restaurant the stunning glass entrance makes you feel like you are entering an exclusive underground party. Once seated in our booth we were welcomed by friendly staff who explained how the menu worked and what was really tasty.
The menu is split up into 3 sections. You can either pick lots of small dishes to share for a tapas feel or pick a small dish for your starter and then pick a large dish for your main or you can ‘dive in’ and have a tapas dish, main meal and a desert. So you can eat as much or as little as your like!
Of course we had to try all 3 so we could get a real feel of the menu… and we were not disappointed.
For starters we had:
-Satay chicken skewers
-Squid and sriracha mayonnaise
-Hand-dived scallops with pork and apple
These small dishes were packed full with flavour and the freshest fish we have ever had in Manchester.
For our main meal we had:
-Chilean seabass with prawns in coconut
and Tom Yam broth – with sticky rice
-Fillet Steak with fries
Even though these were the larger dishes on the menu, they were still quite small so that you still have room for a desert. Most of the dishes on the menu definitely give off lots of asian flavours so when we came to picking a desert and seeing names like ‘Pineapple Downunder Cake’ and ‘Pineapple Sorbet’ We could see that the deserts were going to be arriving with an Australian twist.
So to finish off we had the Passion Fruit cheesecake and the Pineapple downunder with cherry and coconut.
Everything we ate was so light and full of flavour, so even though we did eat 3 courses we were not feeling too full. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion and if you have a look on their website Australasia they also have an amazing lunch time menu with special offers.
We will definitely be returning soon for some more delicious food.
We were invited along to the brand new Caffe Grande in Manchester City Centre last week to try out their menu. After hearing about their £1.3 million makeover, we couldn’t wait to visit. The sun was shining on arrival which got us in the mood for cocktails and beautiful food… We knew we were going to the right place! Heading into the restaurant it was literally like walking into a really big cafe.. Caffe Grande exactly! deserts and patisseries all on show and as we walked through the restaurant the meat and fish was also on display, as well as watching the chefs make all the food. The atmosphere was so friendly and all the staff were saying ‘hello’ to us.
Piccolino Caffe Grande serve everything from Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch to Dinner – You can always get your Piccolino fix from morning to night!
The menu has it’s standard delicious Piccolino dishes but also has some extra treats which you have to check out… We had Calamari for starters, (our fav starter) followed by Seafood Risotto and Lasagne with Courgette Fries as a side dish, and then for desert we could not resist having the Berry Tart and the Pistachio and Praline cake. All the food is handmade on the premises by their super talented Italian Chefs which we think you would have a tough time beating their Italian flavours in any other restaurant.
Whenever we visit a NEW Piccolino restaurant we always say it’s our new favourite but its true, their restaurants just get better and better.
We ended our evening with cocktails around the bar, we had the most perfect evening and as summer arrives I’m sure we will be visiting again and again..
To add to the Mediterranean feel of the restaurant DJ Julienne Jeanne – who has worked in some of the coolest ski and beach resorts throughout the Mediterranean – and his team, will play music in the bar, every week from Thursday until Sunday, midday until late.
This place is somewhere you HAVE to visit!!!
So we were invited to have a meal at the well talked about ‘Alchemist’ last week in Manchester city centre and we couldn’t wait to see what everyone had been talking about. We had heard amazing things about their cocktails and bar so thought it would be appropriate to start our evening off at the bar for a few drinks.
As it was one of the first sunny days of the year the bar was booming. The atmosphere was great and the music was loud so we looked at the cocktail menu and chose a Raspberry and White Chocolate cocktail.. this was vodka and raspberries with a white chocolate cream on top.. deeeelicious!
We were then taken to our table which was much quieter with friendly staff so that we could enjoy our meal. Looking through the menu they certainly catered for all. We could of had anything from calamari to a burger or even a curry. We both had Calamari for starters followed by a burger and a falafel wrap with sweet potato fries and then for pudding we had a chocolate brownie sundae and cinnamon waffles *I was so stuffed after 3 courses*. The service was brilliant and we enjoyed the food. It was the perfect treat meal to end my cleanse with!!
We will definitely be going back, it would be the perfect venue for a group booking or a girls night out as you have the restaurant and the bar all under one roof.
See you guys again soon xoxo
I LOVE working with Club Individual, it means I get to try out the latest restaurants which I KNOW are going to be the coolest place to dine. As you may know I am a big fan of Piccolino Restaurants… as a teenager I would always be meeting my friends in Bramhall Piccolino’s for ice cream. Over the years it has been amazing watching them grow and always pulling the next best restaurant out of the bag…
So when I heard about the new Gino D’Acampo restaurant opening in Manchester I couldn’t wait to try it out for myself. The restaurant is situated in the Corn Exchange, right opposite from Selfridges and The Arndale. It was the perfect spot to wind down after a busy day of meetings in the city centre. On arrival myself and boyfriend grabbed a drink at the bar where we looked at all the photos of Gino on the wall with all the celebrities he had met over the years, along with quotes from Gino himself in blue neon lights to give the bar an edgy underground vibe.
We were then lead through to the restaurant area where we were seated at the biggest booth all for ourselves. The staff where all so friendly and where making sure everyone in the restaurant was having the best time. They even brought over extra Prosecco to our table. For our starter we both had calamari, and for main I had the king prawn and pesto spaghetti and my boyfriend had the sausage and pasta bake with courgette fries… It was all good hearty Italian food… Exactly what you would expect from a Gino D’Acampo and Club Individual partnership.
Next time I have a day shopping with the girls in Manchester I will be finishing it with some food at Gino’s.
Club Individual are seriously upping their game in Manchester this year as after 13 years at the top of the Italian restaurant scene in Manchester, Piccolino is to get a major £1.3m refit, which will see the restaurant nearly doubling in size following the acquisition of adjoining premises. Work is well under way in the new premises and the current Piccolino closed on Monday 21st February, to allow works to commence. Caffé Grande by Piccolino, will re-open following this major investment in early April. The new-look restaurant will increase to seat 200 guests and will also offer a 30 cover alfresco terrace, which overlooks Manchester Town Hall. We can’t wait to visit yet another beautiful Club Individual restaurant. Make sure you have your club individual card at the ready next time you’re paying them a visit.. if you don’t have one, head to http://www.club-individual.co.uk
