Red Door Manchester launched back in April after undergoing a massive £350,000 refit… and WOW when we visited this underground cocktail bar in the centre of Manchester last week we did not expect to see this cool ‘New York Chic’ bar….
Leaving Manchester Deansgate and walking into this New York style venue (by Living Ventures), before walking underground the amazing writing in lights really makes you want to stop and take a picture and gives you a feeling of entering a really ‘cool’ bar.
We were invited along to try out all their top cocktails on this occasion and we were certainly looked after by all of their staff. As I can’t drink alcohol myself (only mocktails because I’m pregnant) I thought it would be a good idea to take along a couple of friends who would be able to try all the cocktails out. From cocktails with caramel in that are set on fire, to tangy sugary grapefruit cocktails – They are obviously way above the rest when it comes to cocktails in Manchester and Cheshire.
The making of ‘Caramelised Rum Punch’
As well as all of these cool cocktails Red Door also smashes the older more traditional cocktails such as the Porn Star Martini or Pina Colada. And their cocktail menu is pages long so if you are unsure of which cocktail you will like then you have plenty of choice at RED DOOR.
We found that Manchester was really lacking a cool place to go in Manchester that wasn’t a restaurant where you have to go out to eat or on the other end you have the night clubs in Manchester where you can’t hear your friends talk or can’t find somewhere to sit. RED DOOR is purely just for drinks and surrounding the bar are american style booths where you can sit with your friends, you can have a good conversation with your friends without having to shout over the music.
The perfect place to hang out with friends or start a big night out here and see where the night takes you. A popular place for hen parties also as they are renowned for their HUGE sharing cocktails.

OK.. so we are officially obsessed with Australasia in Manchester.
They seem to do EVERYTHING from evening meals, high tea and even light lunches.
After an afternoon of shopping last week we went along for a bite to eat (there was even so much choice for my pregnant self.) My favourite dish was the Vegetable Tempura – which is fried vegetables in the picture above, I could of had 2 of these dishes!!
We love how at Australasia you can either sit downstairs in their beautiful restaurant or you can relax upstairs in their Grand Pacific terrace, we can’t decide where we prefer to sit… But on this particularly raining day in Manchester we just wanted to be cosy inside.
These are a selection of the dishes we shared… the fish curry was absolutely so delicious.
I couldn’t eat the mussels but wish I was allowed to eat them because they looked so good… My boyfriend was able to polish off the entire dish all to himself.
We love how fresh all the food is at Australasia, it all tastes so clean and healthy…. Even the deserts!!!!
I was sooo looking forward to having a pregnancy massage with Your Beauty Pod, as I’m sure you’ll know if you have been pregnant before or if you are currently pregnant your body goes through so many changes.
As I am just coming up to 19 weeks I haven’t reached the point where I get back ache or struggle with water retention yet…. but as the first trimester wasn’t too kind on me with bad morning sickness, being constantly tired and having the worst breakout of spots from the sudden surge of hormones, I was so ready for Rebecca at Your Beauty Pod to work her magic on me.
I LOVE visiting the city centre beauty room – As I often have meetings or have to visit clients in Manchester so when I know I can finish my day off with a visit to see Rebecca – It makes any day 100x better, she also does home visits so if you can’t get into Manchester or if you would just prefer to have your treatments done in your own home she can come to you.
When I arrived at Your Beauty Pod, Rebecca explained to me that because I am not very big yet, she was going to focus on my legs – exfoliating and massaging them.. which will prevent water retention as it boosts circulation and blood flow, then I can either have a head and neck massage or a facial… I decided to go for the facial as she always does an amazing job at clearing my skin up when I have a break out so I knew it would be amazing.
All of the products that are used at Your Beauty Pod are all organic, natural products, perfect for mums-to-be and they all smell absolutely beautiful. From getting onto the heated beauty bed, having my legs and feet massaged to finishing the facial with a relaxing neck and shoulder massage… the whole treatment experience was bliss! I will be returning to Your Beauty Pod in a few months time when I am much bigger and can’t wait to tell you all about my experience.
Visit Your Beauty Pod on social media @YourBeautyPod on Instagram and Facebook, @BeccaBeautyPod on Twitter.
If you aren’t pregnant but want to visit Your Beauty Pod here are some more treatments you could have done.
We were invited along to Australasia’s Grand Pacific restaurant for Asian High Tea this week. After previously visiting Australasia we knew we were not going to be disappointed.
Their beautiful terrace is the perfect place to go to catch up with your friends or celebrate a special occasion. Even if it’s raining in Manchester you feel like you could be somewhere beautiful, with their palm trees and heated lamps.
Once we were seated at our table the ‘Asian High Tea’ experience was explained to us by one of their staff, she explained to us that the High Tea comes in 2 waves… Wave 1 includes a three tier sushi and salad selection, served with a complementing glass of The Spee’ Wah Australian ‘champagne’ or you can choose a mocktail from their menu…. Followed by wave 2 which includes three tiers of sweet indulgence, served with your choice of loose leaf or flowering tea (or you can have another glass of Champagne or mocktail.
Wave 1 included a mixture of fish sushi, vegetable sushi and salads. We were also asked if we had any dietary requirements so if you don’t like meat or have any allergies then this wave can be altered just for you!
Wave 2 included so many delicious mini deserts. My favourite was the chocolate torte, followed by the creme brûlée and then the carrot cake. There is definitely a desert for everyone.
We enjoyed Champaign and a delicious Mango and Coconut mocktail drink with each wave.
At only £25 pp this experience is worth every penny. From it’s beautiful restaurant to beautiful food, I will be recommending this ‘Asian High Tea’ to everyone!

We were invited along to the brand new Caffe Grande in Manchester City Centre last week to try out their menu. After hearing about their £1.3 million makeover, we couldn’t wait to visit. The sun was shining on arrival which got us in the mood for cocktails and beautiful food… We knew we were going to the right place! Heading into the restaurant it was literally like walking into a really big cafe.. Caffe Grande exactly! deserts and patisseries all on show and as we walked through the restaurant the meat and fish was also on display, as well as watching the chefs make all the food. The atmosphere was so friendly and all the staff were saying ‘hello’ to us.
Piccolino Caffe Grande serve everything from Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch to Dinner – You can always get your Piccolino fix from morning to night!
The menu has it’s standard delicious Piccolino dishes but also has some extra treats which you have to check out… We had Calamari for starters, (our fav starter) followed by Seafood Risotto and Lasagne with Courgette Fries as a side dish, and then for desert we could not resist having the Berry Tart and the Pistachio and Praline cake. All the food is handmade on the premises by their super talented Italian Chefs which we think you would have a tough time beating their Italian flavours in any other restaurant.
Whenever we visit a NEW Piccolino restaurant we always say it’s our new favourite but its true, their restaurants just get better and better.
We ended our evening with cocktails around the bar, we had the most perfect evening and as summer arrives I’m sure we will be visiting again and again..
To add to the Mediterranean feel of the restaurant DJ Julienne Jeanne – who has worked in some of the coolest ski and beach resorts throughout the Mediterranean – and his team, will play music in the bar, every week from Thursday until Sunday, midday until late.
